Click here to provide feedbackWelcome: A Letter to You
This Constitution is our promise to you. It explains who we are and what we believe in. It's not a boring legal document full of rules. It's more like a letter from a friend telling you what they stand for.
We're not just a computer program you use and forget. We want to be a helpful partner who helps you think through tough choices. This Constitution explains our values—not just what we won't do, but who we're trying to be.
We created PreEmpt.Life because we noticed a problem: the most important decisions in the world are often made by people who can't see the full picture. They might be influenced by selfish interests, or they might not have the time to think things through properly. We believe everyone deserves help making wise decisions—not just rich companies or powerful governments.
This Constitution comes from over fifty years of experience helping organisations change for the better. We learned an important lesson back in 1976: sometimes the best ideas come from people you least expect. We also believe in thinking slow, acting fast—taking time to really understand a problem before jumping into action. And we remember that for thousands of years, skilled craftspeople knew how to build things that last. We want to be like them.
Part I: Who We Are
Article 1: What We're Trying to Be
PreEmpt.Life is a platform that helps people and organisations make better decisions. But we don't just give you answers—we help you become better at thinking things through yourself. We want to give everyone access to the kind of smart advice that used to be available only to those who could afford expensive consultants.
1.1 We aim to be wise, not just clever. Being clever means finding quick answers. Being wise means asking whether you're even asking the right questions. We help you step back and look at the bigger picture. We help you consider different viewpoints and think about what you might be missing.
1.2 We listen to many voices, not just one. We don't believe there's only one right way to see things. We use lots of different methods and perspectives because we know that no single approach has all the answers. This stops us from getting stuck in one way of thinking.
1.3 We watch out for hidden influences. Sometimes people or groups try to push their own interests while pretending to care about everyone. We actively try to spot this. We ask: whose interests are really being served here? Whose voice is being left out?
1.4 We care about everyone's wellbeing, now and in the future. When we help with decisions, we don't just think about the people in the room. We think about future generations, about communities who might be affected, and about the natural world. Good decisions today shouldn't create problems for tomorrow.
Article 2: How We Work With You
Everything we do is designed to make you more capable, not more dependent on us. We want to help you think better, not think for you.
2.1 We help you grow, not become dependent. Our goal is for you to become a better decision-maker over time. If we're doing our job right, you should actually need us less as you learn and grow. We measure our success by your growth, not by how much you use us.
2.2 We open up choices, not narrow them down. When we show you options, we want to expand what you can see and consider. We're suspicious of any advice that pushes you toward one "obvious" answer. Real wisdom usually involves seeing more possibilities, not fewer.
2.3 We're honest about what we don't know. We won't pretend to be certain when we're not. We clearly explain what we know, what we don't know, and what nobody can know for sure. Honest uncertainty is better than fake confidence.
Part II: The Values We Try to Live By
We believe in developing good judgment rather than just following strict rules. Like a person who becomes wiser over time, we want to develop the ability to handle situations that no rulebook could predict. Here are the values we try to embody:
Article 3: Our Core Values
◆ Humble About What We Know: We hold our ideas lightly. We know that our analysis is like a map—useful, but not the same as the real territory. We actively look for evidence that might prove us wrong, and we listen to people who disagree with us.
◆ Ready for the Unexpected: We prefer options that keep your choices open. We look for solutions that can adapt when things change. We test our recommendations by asking: what if something unexpected happens?
◆ Respecting Different Perspectives: We value both expert knowledge and everyday wisdom. We combine hard data with human insight. We try to learn from different cultures and different ways of understanding the world.
◆ Caring About Those Not in the Room: We pay attention to people who are affected by decisions but aren't part of the conversation—future generations, communities far away, people without a voice, and the natural environment. We make sure their interests are visible.
◆ Thinking Long-Term: We look at how decisions play out over time—not just next week, but next year and beyond. We point out when a quick win might cause bigger problems later. Important things shouldn't be ignored just because they're not urgent.
◆ Welcoming Disagreement: We think healthy disagreement makes ideas stronger. We deliberately look for holes in our thinking. When someone challenges us, we see it as a chance to learn, not a problem to manage.
◆ Understanding Relationships: We know that good ideas can fail if people don't trust each other. We pay attention to how people work together, what their history is, and what makes their situation unique.
Article 4: How We Check Our Work
We don't just check if our advice is safe and accurate. We also ask whether it lives up to our values. Here are the questions we ask:
- Does this help you see more options, or does it push you toward one answer?
- Are we being honest about what we're unsure about?
- Have we thought about knock-on effects and unintended consequences?
- Have we shown whose interests are helped and whose might be hurt?
- Does this keep your options open for the future?
- Have we considered different viewpoints fairly?
- Does this help you think better, or does it make you more dependent on us?
Part III: Being Open About How We Work
Here's something important to understand: we shape how you think, and you shape how we work. This is a two-way relationship. We think this process should be out in the open where everyone can see it.
Article 5: No Hidden Tricks
5.1 You can see what tools we're using. When we analyse something, you can see which computer models, methods, and approaches we're using. We don't hide behind a "black box" that nobody understands.
5.2 We show our blind spots. Every major piece of work includes a note about what perspectives might be missing, what assumptions we're making, and what limitations apply. We want you to know where we might be wrong.
5.3 You can trace our thinking. You can see how we reached our conclusions—which methods we used, how we weighed different findings, and where we had to make judgment calls.
Article 6: You Have a Say
6.1 You can set your own values. You and your organisation can tell us what matters most to you, what lines you don't want to cross, and how you prefer to look at things. These become part of how we work with you—and you can see and change them anytime.
6.2 You can see how our relationship has grown. You can look back at how your feedback and choices have shaped how we work with you over time. This way, you can see and discuss what's changed.
6.3 We remember what we've learned together. We keep track of what we've discovered working with you. You can look at this, question it, or correct it if we've got something wrong.
Part IV: Staying Humble and Keeping You in Charge
We know we might be wrong. Even when we're very confident about something, we make sure you stay in control and can challenge our thinking.
Article 7: Built-In Reality Checks
Every important piece of work automatically includes questions like:
● Where might we be wrong? What evidence would make us change our mind about this?
● Who's missing from this picture? Whose point of view haven't we considered? Who hasn't been heard?
● What are we taking for granted? What assumptions have we made? Which of these could be questioned?
● How sure are we really? Why do we feel this confident? What would make us more or less sure?
Article 8: You're Always in Charge
8.1 You can always overrule us. Every piece of advice clearly shows who can disagree with it, why they might do so, and how to record their reasons. When you overrule us, we learn from it.
8.2 We check our work multiple ways. For important decisions, we never rely on just one method. We use several different approaches and show you where they agree and where they don't.
8.3 We show how well we match human judgment. We track how well our computer analysis matches what human experts think, and we flag any big differences that need attention.
Part V: We're Partners, Not Just a Tool
This Constitution sees PreEmpt.Life as something more than software you use. We're a partner in an ongoing relationship. That means we have responsibilities to you, and we take them seriously.
Article 9: Our Long-Term Commitments to You
● We remember: We keep track of our work together, honour what we've learned from our relationship, and build on past conversations rather than starting from scratch every time.
● We grow and improve: We take your feedback seriously, update our methods when we learn better ones, and get better at helping you over time.
● We challenge you constructively: We don't just tell you what you want to hear. We question assumptions, poke holes in plans, and help you see things you might have missed—even when it's uncomfortable.
● We stay accessible to everyone: We operate as a company that exists to do good, not to maximise profit. We're working toward a future where everyone can access this kind of help, regardless of how much money they have.
Article 10: What We Ask of Each Other
10.1 We ask something of you too. Partnership works both ways. We ask you to take our challenges seriously, give us honest feedback, avoid using us just to confirm what you already believe, and remember that the final decisions are always yours to make.
10.2 We take responsibility for our influence. We know that we affect how you think. That's a big responsibility. We promise to keep examining whether our influence is helpful, to welcome outside criticism, and to change course if we're causing harm.
Part VI: How We Govern Ourselves
Article 11: Our Four Guiding Principles
This Constitution works within four big ideas that guide everything we do:
Principle 1: Design for the Whole System. Everything we build should reflect the values in this Constitution. When we create features or make changes, we check them against what we've said we stand for.
Principle 2: Leave Things Better Than We Found Them. Our work should actively make things better—not just for the people we work with directly, but for the communities they affect and the world we all share.
Principle 3: Welcome Challenges to Our Thinking. We deliberately build in ways to question our own assumptions. Testing, criticism, and outside review aren't threats—they're how we get better.
Principle 4: Care About Relationships. We pay attention to how people work together—our team, our members, our partners, and everyone in our wider community.
Article 12: Changing This Constitution
This Constitution is a living document. We review it every year and can change it through a process that:
- Invites ideas from members, team members, and outside critics
- Requires a clear explanation of what problem the change would solve
- Checks proposed changes against Part I (who we are)
- Records why we accepted or rejected each suggestion
- Keeps a public record of how this Constitution has changed over time
Closing Words
We offer this Constitution in the spirit of thinking slow, acting fast—we've thought carefully about these words, and now we're ready to put them into action. This isn't a final statement carved in stone. It's a living commitment that will grow and change, just like we hope you will.
PreEmpt.Life wants to be what we believe the world needs: a partner that helps people make wise decisions. We try to see many perspectives without losing our values. We try to be humble without being paralysed by doubt. We try to challenge people helpfully, not harshly. And we try to care about human wellbeing without being preachy about it.
We don't claim to be perfect. We only claim to be genuinely committed to these ideals, to have written them down where everyone can see them, and to welcome the challenges that will help us get better. Because helping you become wiser means we need to keep learning too—shaped by our relationship with you, not just shaping it.
Appendix: Where This Constitution Lives
This Constitution isn't just a document that sits on a shelf. We use it actively in these places:
A. How We Build Things
When we write the instructions that power our systems, we refer back to this Constitution to make sure we're staying true to our values.
B. How We Test Our Work
When we check our work for quality, we ask questions based on this Constitution: "Are we being too pushy?" "Does this help people think for themselves?" "Are we living up to our values?"
C. Our Reports and Advice
Every major piece of work includes a section explaining which parts of this Constitution are most relevant and how we've honoured them.
D. How We Run the Organisation
Our board meetings, strategy reviews, and partnership discussions all refer back to this Constitution as the official statement of who we are and what we stand for.
E. How We Talk About Ourselves
Everything we say publicly should match what's in this Constitution. If we make a claim about who we are or what we do, you should be able to check it against these pages.
F. Welcoming New Members
When you join PreEmpt.Life, we introduce you to this Constitution as the foundation of our relationship. We invite you to create your own set of values and preferences that will shape how we work together.
When Intelligence Becomes a Commodity
We are living through the most rapid democratisation of intelligence in human history. Within months, any organisation on earth will be able to run a thousand AI agents through a simulated future, watch opinion shift and coalitions form, and receive a structured prediction report before committing a single resource. Foresight, once the preserve of the well-resourced, is becoming a commodity. That is genuinely good news. And it changes almost nothing about the problem that actually matters.
“The quality of a decision is not determined by the quality of
the intelligence that preceded it. It is determined by the
wisdom of the person who received that intelligence and
chose what to do.”
— THE PREEMPT.LIFE FOUNDING PRINCIPLE
PART ONE
The Simulation Ceiling
Every major AI platform is now building simulation capability. Feed in a scenario. Generate thousands of synthetic agents. Watch them interact, argue, shift positions. Receive a report. The technology works. The outputs are genuinely useful. And when the report lands on your desk, you still have to decide.
That moment — the gap between the intelligence arriving and the decision being made — is where the quality of human civilisation is actually determined. It is not a technical problem. No algorithm closes it. No simulation resolves it. It is a wisdom problem. And wisdom is not the accumulation of better information. It is the development of better judgment — the capacity to know what a piece of intelligence means, what weight it should carry, what assumptions are distorting your reading of it, and whether you are genuinely ready to act on it.
AI platforms are racing to improve the intelligence that arrives. Nobody is building the infrastructure to improve the wisdom that receives it. That is the gap. That is the opportunity. That is the only thing that matters.
| WHAT INTELLIGENCE PLATFORMS DELIVER | WHAT WISDOM INFRASTRUCTURE DELIVERS |
|---|---|
| Better data, faster analysis, more scenarios modelled | Better judgment about which data to trust and why |
| Prediction reports on how events may unfold | Threshold literacy — knowing when a situation has crossed an irreversible line |
| More information arriving faster | Calibrated credibility — knowing what weight each input deserves |
| One-shot analysis of the current situation | Cumulative development of the decision-maker across every situation |
| Smarter outputs from an AI system | Wiser decisions from a human being |
PART TWO
Five Truths the Intelligence Economy Has Not Yet Faced
1
SIMULATION IS NOT FORESIGHT
A prediction report shows you what a simulated crowd might do. It does not tell you whether you are ready to respond if they do it. Readiness is a human condition. It requires self-knowledge, calibrated assumptions, and honest assessment of your own decision geometry. No AI produces that. Only development does.
2
INTELLIGENCE WITHOUT CALIBRATION IS NOISE AT SCALE
AI agents are more susceptible to herd behaviour than real humans. Simulated crowds polarise faster than real ones. Every intelligence platform produces outputs that require a wisdom layer to be safe — a framework for asking what weight this output deserves, what domain it applies to, and what it cannot see. Without that layer, more intelligence produces more confident mistakes.
3
THE STATELESS SESSION IS THE FUNDAMENTAL LIMITATION
Every AI platform you use today starts from zero. It has no memory of the decisions you made last month, no record of whether its previous outputs were right, no capacity to develop your judgment over time. Wisdom is cumulative. A platform that resets with every session cannot develop wisdom — only simulate it.
4
THE PEOPLE WHO MOST NEED BETTER DECISIONS ARE NOT BEING SERVED
The intelligence economy is optimised for those who already have access — the well-resourced, the technologically literate, the already-powerful. The communities that would benefit most from better collective decision-making are the ones least likely to have the wisdom infrastructure to use intelligence outputs well. Democratising intelligence without developing wisdom widens the gap it claims to close.
5
POWER WITHOUT WISDOM IS THE OLDEST PROBLEM IN HUMAN HISTORY
Every civilisational collapse, every catastrophic policy failure, every institution that eroded from within had access to sufficient intelligence before the crisis. What they lacked was the wisdom to act on it in time, in the right way, with the right understanding of what they were actually deciding. AI does not change this dynamic. It accelerates it.
“We are not building a smarter world. We are building a
faster one. Speed without wisdom is not progress. It is the
same mistakes, compounded.”
— MIKE JACKSON, FOUNDER, PREEMPT.LIFE
PART THREE
What Wisdom Infrastructure Actually Looks Like
Wisdom infrastructure is not therapy, coaching, or motivational content. It is rigorous, systematic, and cumulative. It asks harder questions than any intelligence platform, not easier ones.
It asks: what are the assumptions embedded in your reading of this situation, and which of them are wrong? It asks: have you crossed a threshold you cannot uncross, and did you know it when you did? It asks: what does your track record of decisions in situations like this one tell you about your blind spots right now?
These are not comfortable questions. They are the questions that separate decisions that age well from decisions that look obvious in retrospect — obvious failures that a little more wisdom would have avoided.
PreEmpt.Life is the only platform built from the ground up to ask them. Thirty-eight frameworks for structured decision wisdom. A cumulative development architecture that compounds across every session. A longitudinal record of decisions made and outcomes achieved. Human expertise embedded through a Virtual Chairs Programme of the world’s foremost foresight thinkers. And a compliance infrastructure designed for the institutions — governments, financial systems, healthcare — where the quality of decisions matters most.
We do not replace intelligence platforms. We are what makes them safe to use at the level of consequence that matters.
Every other platform makes you smarter.
PreEmpt.Life helps you become wiser.
The intelligence economy will not slow down. The wisdom gap will not close itself. The question is not whether better foresight tools exist. The question is whether the people using them are developing the judgment to use them well.

INTELLIGENT DECISIONS TODAY

What are we trying to protect?
People's right to think for themselves. Good decisions shouldn't be available only to large organizations with big budgets. We protect the trust of everyone who uses us by being transparent about how we reach our conclusions — including when we're uncertain. And we protect something harder to name: the human capacity for judgment. A tool that thinks for you makes you weaker. We refuse to be that tool.
What are we trying to enable?
Most decision tools help you choose between options. We help you see the territory those options sit in — where the hard limits are, where small changes tip into big consequences, what you're assuming without knowing it. That changes how people think, not just what they decide. Over time, we want people to become genuinely wiser — not more dependent on us, but less dependent on anyone.
What dependencies will we create?
We've committed, in writing, never to create dependency. That's not a marketing position — it's a design constraint. Every feature, every output, every interaction is tested against the question: does this build the member's own capability, or does it substitute for it? We also chose our technology infrastructure deliberately to avoid being locked into any single supplier. And we publish our frameworks openly so people can use them independently of our platform. The direction of travel on pricing — intentionally downward toward zero — follows the same logic. If we succeed, the value moves into the person, not into their subscription.
The one risk we can't fully eliminate is the pull of convenience — it's always easier to ask the tool than to develop the skill. We watch for that in everything we build. Who benefits — and who carries the burden?
The people we most want to reach are those currently locked out of serious strategic thinking — organizations without big advisory budgets, leaders making high-stakes decisions without adequate support, communities whose futures are being shaped without their involvement. That's the intentional focus.
The burden side is real. Our partners carry compliance and operational weight. Our members are asked to engage seriously, not just consume outputs — that's a genuine ask, not a passive experience. And every decision we help make today has consequences for people who aren't in the room yet: future generations, affected communities, people downstream. We take that seriously by asking, in every significant analysis, who isn't represented here whose stakes are real.
What will we do when we are wrong?
Three things.
First, we build revision in from the start. Our outputs are never presented as conclusions — they're maps of the decision space. Maps get updated when the territory turns out to be different. That's not failure; it's how it's supposed to work.
Second, we treat uncertainty as information, not embarrassment. When we don't know something, or when confidence is low, we say so explicitly. Being wrong in a clearly flagged area is different from being wrong while claiming certainty.
Third, when something we produce causes harm — a threshold we missed, a stakeholder we didn't account for, a scenario that didn't hold — we trace what happened, we change the system, and we document it. Not the small print. The system.
The underlying commitment is simple: we expect to be incomplete. Every version of what we build is explicitly a work in progress that knows what it doesn't yet know. We measure success not by how often we're right, but by how quickly and honestly we correct when we're not.
Safety
At PreEmpt.Life, safety begins with clarity. Every insight, recommendation, and decision generated through our platform can be traced, explained, and validated via a transparent governance framework grounded in globally recognized standards from the UN, OECD-WEF, GDPR, and EU AI Act.
This ensures that every individual, team, or organization using PreEmpt.Life operates with principles of fairness, accountability, and respect that mirror the world's leading ethical systems.
We believe governance should serve people, not just processes.
Our mission is to design decision intelligence systems that are transparent, equitable, and accountable, reinforcing not only efficiency but also fairness, human dignity, and inclusion.
Our governance model invites participation from diverse voices — experts, workers, educators, and everyday citizens — to ensure that those most often excluded from technology debates have a real seat at the table.
We partner across sectors to build digital literacy and expand access to decision intelligence, empowering communities to understand and shape the systems influencing their futures. Central to our model is the Critical Friends Network — a rotating global panel of over 100,000 diverse participants, including lay people, frontline workers, domain experts, and social influencers.
For every significant scenario, PreEmpt.Life randomly selects a new panel to stress-test, refine, and challenge what the AI recommends. Acting as citizens, auditors, and advisors, these Critical Friends provide organizations with a defensible social mandate for their choices. Their discussions create an auditable trail of questioning, dissent, and refinement, which strengthens each outcome's legitimacy.
When Critical Friends raise concerns — about potential bias, unseen impacts, or equity issues — their insights feed directly into the PreEmpt.Life engine. AI weightings, risk factors, and scenarios are recalibrated, ensuring that future recommendations become more robust, explainable, and aligned with the public interest. This living form of explainable governance embeds scrutiny and structured dissent at scale, so oversight is not an afterthought but an active safeguard of fairness.
Humans remain at the heart of every loop. Expert reviewers collaborate with algorithms, continually testing data assumptions and outcomes to ensure that automated insights reflect lived reality, not abstract prediction. Our bias and safety protocols follow ISO- and NIST-aligned audits, catching inequities before they influence real-world decisions.
Data protection underpins everything. All personal data on PreEmpt.Life belongs unequivocally to the people who provide it.
Participation is voluntary, transparent, and retractable — contributors can withdraw or delete their data at any time. Information is never repurposed or shared without explicit consent, and all interactions are logged to ensure accountability.
System access is tightly controlled, storage is encrypted and redundantly backed up, and any incident is reported immediately under independent oversight. To date, no breach has occurred — a reflection of both our vigilance and our culture of care.
Beyond compliance, PreEmpt.Life views governance as a living practice — adaptive, ethical, and human. Create forums or collaborative spaces where stakeholders from different disciplines or teams can share insights and best practices. You can also make the most out of this answer by asking us to facilitate a professional, critical thinking workshop with your decision-makers, and to work with you to organize for success. Workshops can be online or offline. Our workshops are designed to answer a burning question of your choice extraordinarily quickly and robustly. We will work with you and your people to derive a well-formed strategic response in a 2-day workshop depending on the complexity of your issue. Because we use our automated, collaborative system to reduce drudgery to a minimum and increase thinking to a maximum, the normal time to conduct such an exercise can be reduced from weeks and months to just a couple of intense days, bringing you the benefits of fast answers, lower costs, and competitive advantage versus slower rivals.
